One bird that has thrived in recent years is the Tui. It seems that all the right planting in urban areas has brought the Tui to our home gardens, and their numbers have increased greatly. Out my office window we have some flowering gums, whose flowers the Tui seem to love. This week I allowed myself time to get some close up pictures, and what a beautiful plumaged bird is revealed. Despite their annoying early morning, and late evening calls, we love to see them in the garden. Bellbirds are also around, but it seems the Tui rules at the dinner table!
