A forestry friend recently contacted me to tell of a morepork nest he had found in the forest. After an hour's drive into the Whanganui hinterland, and a lengthy drive and walk into the forest, we were rewarded with lovely views of two chicks in a hole on a bank, near ground level. Those eyes, wow, they are riveting.
