We recently had two gull-billed terns visit the Whanganui River Estuary, for a few days. The birds were reported so I went searching. With just minutes of daylight remaining, I spotted one way out on the estuary, being low tide. What to do, but trudge out through the mud, and yes, I got some pictures during the last minutes of daylight. A very satisfying moment. I did not get to see the birds again.
