I was lucky to be able to photograph a gull-billed tern recently at the Manawatu Estuary. Earlier in the year we had one briefly at Whanganui. A lovely bird, with their own manner of feeding on an estuary, that helps one to identify them. A number have been showing up around NZ so there must have been an influx of them this year.
