We are very happy to see the godwit, flagged AJD, return back to Foxton from his migration to Alaska. This now completes 15 years of migrations that I have been following him, now beginning the 16th cycle. If true to habit, we expect to see him here on the Whanganui Estuary in the first week of December. I first saw him at Foxton on 22 September 2023, and the photo below was taken on 4 October 2023. As someone wrote to me, "he is a godwit that just keeps giving", very true.
