Close encounters with Long-tailed cuckoo

We returned to a place some 40 minutes North of Whanganui where last year (see earlier post) we had found good numbers of long-tailed cuckoo, a very interesting bird, that few people know much about. They spend half their year in NZ, where they lay their eggs in whitehead nests, and the other half of the year in islands of the South-West Pacific. A Wellington couple, who are birders and photographers like myself, wanted to find some, and our adventure certainly did not disappointed us.
