Doing a wader count at estuaries along the coastline near Whanganui we encountered several beautiful birds, but I think the black-fronted dotterel must win the prize for "Cute and Pretty". At the mouth of the Turakina River, on a lagoon that is there, we parked the Jimny near the water's edge, and these tiny birds were feeding around us. So beautiful close up.
