Another Rare Bird on the Whanganui

Although not a birding hotspot, our local Whanganui River Estuary turns up some very nice birds. A sharp-tailed sandpiper was found one morning, in the company of a group of godwits, but restless and always on the move. I only sighted it there for about 15 minutes, and it was not seen here again. Years ago, these little beauties were regulars along this coast, especially at Foxton, but nowadays are rarely seen. With my big lens I managed some good pictures, so I came away very happy.
