AJD now has on his breeding coat ready for Alaska

It has been good to visit the Whanganui River Estuary every couple of days and observe how the godwit flagged AJD has changed his plumage and is now showing the beauty of his breeding colours, ready for Alaska. I expect him to migrate from here on the 24th or 25th of March, weather permitting. I say the 24th as a possibility as we are now 75% toward leap year (next year) so I guess it depends on what his body clock tells him! This will be his 15th migration, that we know of.
