The godwits are just starting to show breeding colours and I have especially been watching AJD. The picture below shows smudges of orange on his breast, and they are visibly increasing each day. In my book, "Feats Beyound Amazing", on page 25, I show a picture of AJD taken on 25 January, and I think in two days' time his colours this year will be exactly the same. Everything about them confirms their clockwork timing, even in moulting. What a privilege this morning to be so close to them and to learn more of their incredible lives.
