AJD is back from Alaska

For the first time in 13 years AJD was more than a month late back from migration, and for the first time he came direct to Whanganui, skipping his few weeks at Foxton. Many migrants this year got caught up in bad weather, and needed to shelter somewhere, so likely this happened to AJD. I was starting to think he had died, being an old bird, however, he is as lively as ever. My new book was at the printers, but I managed to get a change done to the last page, with only hours to spare. He is not usually at Whanganui during November, so it is giving me fresh opportunities to get photographs at this stage of his plumage.
